How do you define living the good life?
Perhaps you imagine living in a beautiful beach home, becoming wealthy, playing golf, or traveling the world.
Psalm 37 is a wisdom psalm that describes the good life. However, the good life is not described in materialistic or experiential images. Instead, the good life from a biblical perspective is found in trusting God during trials and successes in this life and trusting his faithfulness in the next life.
The Psalmist reminds us to "commit our way to the Lord", "be still before the Lord", and "trust the Lord" to do good (vv. 3, 5, 7).
Whether today shows the promise of hope or the possibility of failure, the future belong to the Lord and he holds your salvation.
"The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; he is their stronghold in the time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them...because they take refuge in him" (vv. 39-40).
The good life is not about homes, success, or travel.
The good life is about trusting the Lord and understanding that he is an eternal refuge for his people.
