Do you have a hectic schedule?
In 1 Samuel 23 we read about David's busy life. He had a hectic schedule. He was busy trying to stay alive as the deranged King of Israel tried to hunt him down and kill him. David's life is chaotic and stressful as he avoids being killed by a sword in the stomach or an arrow in the back by King Saul or one of his mercenaries. Day and night, David is busy just trying to stay alive.
Yet, in the midst of this tumultous period in David's life, he goes to God in prayer. He asks God for guidance for his decisions. He asks for God to direct his path.
David is not too busy to seek God. David values communing with God; he makes seeking God a priority in his life.
Life is busy. Your calendar might be filled with work, school, family, appointments, errands, sports practices, or volunteer opportunities. But are you too busy to pray?
For Christians, prayer should be on your calendar every day. Prayer is a necessity for followers of Jesus Christ. One of the Protestant Reformers wrote, "Prayer is the first and foremost exercise expected of God's children. It is by prayer that we test the genuineness of our faith."
In other words, prayer is the expression of your faith in the Triune God. Genuine faith in God and his promises leads you to prayer because you are confident in God and his promises.
Life is busy. It was busy for David 3,000 years ago as he fled into the wilderness to escape from King Saul. But just as David was not too busy to pray, you should make prayer a prioirty in your life today and every day.
