Prayer is the voice of faith. As a young church plant in Mount Pleasant, prayer is essential as we seek to reach our community with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Interestingly, in the history of the church there have been times set aside for devoted prayer. These are often called 'concerts of prayer.'

For example, in the early 18th century, Christians in Germany began a concert of prayer that lasted for over 100 years! In the summer of 1727, 24 men and 24 women promised to spend an hour in scheduled prayer. The result was that over a 24-hour period, at least 1 person was praying for their church and community.

The Lord blessed them and their informal concert of prayer continued for over a century! Moreover, by the end of the 18th century that community had sent over 300 missionaries all over the globe.

As we begin our 2nd year of morning worship at Shem Creek Presbyterian Church, we want to set aside a 24 hour concert of prayer where we are devoted to praying for our church and our community. Our time of devoted prayer will begin on 8/19 at noon and end 8/20 at noon. 

The link below provides you with a document where you can find a 30 minute (or 60 minute) period to pray and sign your name. Please find a time on document and sign your name, promising to spend that time devoted to prayer.

Our goal is that for an entire 24 hours our new church will be devoted to praying that we would each grow in the Gospel for Christ and for our community.
