Psalm 23 provides some of the most memorable words in Scripture.

Throughout church history, Christians have memorized this psalm, meditated on it during difficult times, and read it at funerals.

King David reminds us that we are sheep and God is our Good Shepherd. He provides for us so that we do not lack rest, food, safety, direction, or comfort.

God is your shepherd. Whether you are living in peaceful pastures or suffering in the valley of the shadow death, God is guiding you. He is with you.

Moreover, he protects you from your enemies. Just as sheep are helpless against wolves and lions, Christians are helpless against the enemies of sin, death, and the devil without the presence and power of God's Spirit. 

God guides. He protects. He also provides for you.

The Psalmist makes it clear - with God as your shepherd you lack nothing. He provides for all your needs because he is gracious and merciful.

In fact, his divine goodness and steadfast love are with you now and will follow you until you reach your eternal home - the house of the Lord.

If you know the Lord Jesus Christ then you know the Good Shepherd. He will always guide, protect, and provide for you because you belong to him.
